Are you considering newborn photography but have some questions?

Don't worry, I'm here to help!

As a studio newborn photographer (and a mom of 3!) I understand the value and importance of capturing these early moments of your baby's life!

If you're a new parent, you're probably overwhelmed with all the decisions you need to make.

Newborn photography doesn't have to be one of them.

Let me guide you through the process and provide you with all the information you need to capture the early moments of your baby's life.

I’d just like to add at this point that I would love to share my own personal experience with you about having newborn photos taken with my own babies… but unfortunately I can’t because I never had them done. It is one of my biggest and few regrets I have as a mother and I really wish I had decided to hire someone to do them for our family. What I CAN tell you is that if you decide NOT to do photos of this very special (and very fleeting) moment when your baby is still tiny and new, you will most likely have the same feelings of regret after your “baby” turns 11 like my oldest just did... the time really did go by so fast! So, I hope you take my very genuine advice in choosing to hire someone who you trust and will do a quality job in capturing these moments so you can enjoy them again and again in the future!

Let's dive into some of the most common questions about newborn photography…

“What should I look for when hiring a newborn photographer?”

It's important to choose a photographer who specializes in newborn photography and has experience working with infants. At my studio, I have years of experience working with newborns and their families. I'm dedicated to providing a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable experience for you and your baby. I understand the importance of capturing these early moments, and I take pride in creating beautiful, timeless memories that you'll cherish for years to come.

“What can I expect during a newborn photography session?”

During a newborn photography session, I'll work to create a comfortable and safe environment for your baby, and guide you through the posing process. You can include your family members in the photos, and I encourage parents and siblings to participate in this special moment. If you have any specific poses or props in mind, I'm always happy to incorporate your ideas and preferences into the session.

To capture the best moments, it's important to schedule your newborn photography session as early as possible, ideally within the first two weeks of your baby's life. I recommend booking your session as soon as possible during your pregnancy to ensure availability.

We take our time during these sessions and let your baby tell us what they need. Some babies are super easy going and sleep right through the whole thing. Other babies are needs little breaks between every set because they are cluster feeding and need that extra time to eat and then settle. Whatever your baby’s needs are, they will let us know and we will follow their lead!

“Do I need to bring anything?”

You don't need to bring much to the session as most of the items your baby will need will be provided by the studio, including props, backdrops, and blankets. However, I encourage you to bring a few personal items that you would like to incorporate into the photos, like a special blanket or toy (this is optional)! I also encourage parents to bring a pacifier if the baby will take one and they feel comfortable with it, sometimes it allows the baby to settle again without fully waking up in between set ups. And of course, I tell parents to bring their diaper bag and milk source so all of baby’s needs are met.

“When will I get my photos?”

After the session, I send you a Sneak Peek and then you come back to my studio to choose your favorite photos. You can expect to receive the final edited photos within 2-3 weeks. I offer a range of packages that include both digital files and prints. I'm happy to work with you to create a customized package that meets your specific needs. After you approve your fully edited and gorgeous gallery, I order any pieces of wall art, photo albums, or folio boxes you may have ordered to enjoy in your home. There is nothing that can beat seeing and holding a printed photo of your baby!

“How much does newborn photography cost?”

Newborn photography sessions can range from $500 to $3,000, depending on the package you choose to create or if you want just one item, like a photo album. I know this might seem like a significant investment, but keep in mind that newborn photography is a specialized service that requires a lot of time, effort, and equipment. I'm dedicated to providing high-quality images & products that you'll cherish for a lifetime!

Years back I used to only order digital packages; it left me burnt out and honestly sad that the families who invested so much money into their newborn photos would only share them for 24 hours of glory on social media before they were buried, rarely to be admired again. I started offering more albums and prints for their homes the following year and have never looked back. Now, the families I serve get to see their gorgeous photos every. single. day. and so do all the people coming to visit them. I found that when families print out their photos they are reminded of the happy times when they brought their baby home and how tiny they used to be. It brings me so much joy to see the parents light up when they see their baby’s face in print and tell me about how happy they are that they get to hang it in their home. I literally could go on and on about how glad I am to have decided to start offering physical prints along with the digitals, but I know if you’re like me you need to start bouncing on to your next activity!

So, there you have it! Newborn photography is a wonderful way to capture the early moments of your baby's life and I do my best to take care of all the details, so all you have to do is show up!
